Children's Classes
Our small, friendly classes in our Canonmills studio give children the chance to explore, experiment and develop their artistic skills. With supportive guidance, each session offers the time and space to create with confidence.
Summer Term
April 20th to June 27th 2026

Sculpt, Paint & Print
Tuesdays
Ages 6-10 years | 4.30pm-6pm
Young artists will work on three different creative projects throughout this course. To begin, students will sculpt a paper pulp bowl which will then be painted and collaged with colourful, natural shapes.
Students will also design and create a printed tote bag using fabric stencilling and printing, before embellishing it with additional decorative details inspired by natural forms.
Printing sessions will introduce a range of techniques, allowing students to create unique shapes and patterns that can be added to their paper pulp bowls or used to produce postcards and cards to take home.
All materials provided.

Designing and Creating Textile Art
Wednesdays & Thursdays
Ages 10-14 years | 4.30pm-6pm
with Ada Hayden Joiner
This term focuses on textiles and decorative art. Students will begin by designing patterns inspired by natural forms, which will then be transferred onto silk panels.
The silk will be painted and enhanced with decorative embellishments such as beads and embroidery, creating a unique and ornate textile piece. Finished panels can be framed or incorporated into functional items such as a cushion cover or a panel on a tote bag.
Additional smaller projects will also be introduced throughout the course, exploring different approaches within this sophisticated textile theme.
All materials provided.

Portfolio Preparation: Poster Design
Saturdays
Ages 14+ | Art & Portfolio Development | 10am-12pm
with Cate Parr
Design and create a poster for your favourite or imagined movie, book, game, or event. Students will be guided through the full creative process, from developing ideas and planning layouts to preparing artwork for printing.
Using a variety of mixed media, students can choose to work with promarkers and Posca pens or take a more painterly approach to create their designs. We will also guide students through adding text, refining finishes, and preparing their final compositions.
Students will produce small postcards alongside a fully printed poster to take away. Materials provided.
Students will be required to bring a laptop or iPad for final editing.About Children's Term Classes
