    Our small, friendly classes in our Canonmills studio give children the chance to explore, experiment and develop their artistic skills. With supportive guidance, each session offers the time and space to create with confidence.

  • Autumn Term

    Tuesdays

    Ages 6-10 years | 4.30pm-6pm

    Designed to inspire creativity and build confidence, these weekly classes introduce young artists to a wide range of drawing, painting and mixed media techniques through engaging, hands-on projects. Each term is centred around an exciting creative theme, with full details to be announced soon.

    Children will explore a variety of materials and approaches while developing observation, colour and composition skills in a fun and supportive environment. Tutor demonstrations and individual guidance encourage curiosity, imagination and creative confidence throughout the term.

    As the weeks progress, participants will create a collection of artwork inspired by the term’s theme before completing a final piece that brings together the skills and ideas they have explored.

    All materials are provided, and no previous experience is required.

    Wednesdays & Thursdays

    This ten-week course encourages young artists to strengthen their drawing, painting and mixed media skills while exploring a central creative theme. Full details of this term’s theme will be announced soon, providing inspiration for a range of studies, techniques and artistic approaches throughout the course.

    Working with tutor demonstrations and individual guidance, students will experiment with a variety of materials while developing confidence in observation, composition, colour and creative expression. They will be encouraged to explore new ideas, refine their skills and build confidence in their own artistic style.

    Throughout the term, participants will create a collection of work inspired by the chosen theme before bringing together their learning in a more resolved final piece.

    All materials are provided, and the classes are suitable for a range of abilities.

    Saturday Portfolio Development

    Ages 14+ | Art & Portfolio Development

    10am-12pm with Cate Parr

    Designed for young artists with a growing passion for creativity, this course offers the opportunity to strengthen technical skills while exploring the process of building a thoughtful and personal portfolio of work. Each term is inspired by a unique theme, providing a shared starting point for investigation while encouraging individual interpretation and artistic development.

    Working across drawing, painting and mixed media, students will develop confidence through observational studies, technical exercises and more independent pieces, supported by tutor demonstrations and personalised guidance. Whether considering future study in art and design or simply wishing to explore their creativity in greater depth, participants will be encouraged to refine ideas, experiment with different approaches and develop their own artistic voice.

    Throughout the term, students will build a varied portfolio of artwork before creating a more resolved final piece that brings together the skills, techniques and ideas explored over the course.

  • About Children's Term Classes

    Our term-time courses run in 10-week blocks throughout the year for ages 6 to 16 with a half-term break. Projects have previously covered drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture and printmaking, with themes tailored to each age group. Projects may change each term.

    Class length: 1.5 hours, ages 6-14 classes | (14+ Saturday class is 2 hours)
